Aftercare
Proper aftercare is essential for optimal healing and maintaining the appearance of your tattoo. Our studio recommends the following
Option 1 – Plastic Wrap (Caring with Ointment)
1. Remove the wrap after 2 hours (earlier if there is excessive bleeding).
2. Clean the area gently with warm water and antibacterial soap, then pat dry.
3. Apply a thin layer of ointment or cream (Bepanthen or Aquaphor) to keep the area lightly moisturized — avoid over-applying so your skin can breathe.
4. Repeat this clean-and-moisturize process 2–4 times a day until there is no more pain or tenderness.
5. After this stage, you can switch to general moisturizing care.
Option 2 – Second Skin / Derm Shield
1. Keep the first second skin on for up to 24 hours, then remove it slowly and gently.
2. Clean the tattoo with warm water and antibacterial soap, then apply an extra second skin and keep it on for 3–5 days.
3. Showering is allowed while it’s on, but if water gets underneath the second skin, remove it immediately to prevent infection.
4. If you don’t have an extra second skin, switch to caring with ointment (follow the Plastic Wrap steps above).
General Care Guidelines
* Avoid swimming, sunbathing, and alcohol until the tattoo is fully healed.
* Refrain from exercising until there is no pain
movements that cause the skin to stretch and contract repeatedly can disrupt the healing process,
and elevated body temperature can increase the risk of inflammation.
* If a thick scab forms, stop caring with ointment and keep the tattoo area dry, while ensuring it stays clean.
* After healing, avoid direct sunlight and use sunscreen regularly to protect the tattoo.
